8/16/2023 0 Comments Mr krupp captain underpants movie![]() ![]() Krupp was actually a hilarious antagonist for George and Harold for his exaggerated principal nature, which makes his shenanigans as Captain Underpants even funnier. ![]() Even though I don't like his backstory and how it really plays into his character that much, Professor Poopypants was wonderfully hammy and got a lot of chuckles out of me. I mean, some of them are just classic stereotypes, like Melvin being the snobby nerd with no sense of humor (literally), but the main characters are pretty cool. Captain Underpants didn't need to worry about tone and cliches and just wanted to have fun, and actually put distinction and effort into it.Īs for the characters, they're not the greatest I've seen. It's tone was so all over the place for a film about The Boss Baby that it felt like another Pixar/Disney wannabe, since their films have this balance and actually do it somewhat correct. While The Boss Baby had child-like wonder in it's animated segments, it didn't exactly feel in tact with the rest of the film, despite it's message and concept. Let's compare this to Dreamworks' previous film: The Boss Baby. ![]() Yet it never feels too cartoony, bland, and out of focus. They could use 2D animation (yeah, way to tease me there yet again Dreamworks), and even a point where they use FREAKING SOCK-PUPPETS. Since this is Dreamworks, they could get away with trying out some other artstyles while maintaining focus to the characters of George and Harold and their feel of child-like wonder that is reflected to the film itself. Not to mention that this film can go straight out of left field when it likes. They could've just made this a rush shot, but since they had more focus on the mood and setting and not forcing anything down our throats that isn't the focus, they put a hilariously gloomy and over-exaggerated atmosphere that, I have no idea why, gave me vibes from Pink Floyd's The Wall. Take for instance a scene where the students enter school on a Saturday for a science convention. Even though there are two settings in the entire film, they go all out and creating a fun atmosphere to enhance the comedy and child-like wonder of both the feel of the film and George and Harold. Captain Underpants has always had a low budget feel that would probably not translate well onto the big screen (especially since I'm not one to condone cheap animated films that comes from a major animated film studio and still becomes a major hit, ain't that right Illumination) but they use that as an advantage to make very distinct and very colorful feel to the entire project. The 2D pages managed to make a great leap into 3D, as they look the part, sound the part, and be the part. But while it's not anything new or ground breaking, it makes up for it in distinction in a similar way the Lego movies do. Overall I thought the presentation looked like every other animated film coming out right now, and in a way it still is. And I thought, no it isn't! It's another CG animated film where the characters wiggle their arms around and are voiced by celebrities. When I first saw the trailer for this film, a lot of people were saying that it was a new artstyle. Meanwhile, a new science teacher is hired by Captain Un- I mean Krupp.I mean Captain Underpants with the name of Professor Poopypants (Nick Kroll), who has an evil plan to get rid of laughter to show those who have made fun of his name. ![]() But since Krupp has no superpowers and is dumb as a brick, you could guess that hyjinx ensues. Krupp into their creation best from Treehouse Comics (comics George and Harold make in their treehouse): the "superhero" Captain Underpants. Science be damned amirite? They use this to turn Mr. Krupp seems to catch them though, George attempts to use the hypno ring as a last resort.and it actually works. When George and Harold Snoop around to catch the security camera, they come across their old toy collection with one of the toys being a hypno ring. This results in him finally getting the chance to separate them into different classes. However, one day he actually caught them pulling a prank thanks to a security camera set up by one of the kids in the school named Melvin (Jordan Peele). But their always caught by the principal of the school named Mr. In other words, not the best priso- I mean school to be in. Two best friends and partners in crime, more specifically partners in pranking, and they find it around their school since school for the kids there is the equivalent of schools in Pink Floyd's The Wall. Our story follows two best friends and partners in pranks George (Kevin Hart) and Harold (Thomas Middleditch). ![]()
